About our Road Bikes

Here in the Pyrenees mountains, the bikes that we rent may be a bit different from your own bike at home. Our most popular rental bikes are all “Endurance” bikes. ie. the riding position is a little more relaxed, the handlebars are a bit higher, the reach is a bit less than many race bikes.

The mountain passes around Luz-Saunt-Sauveur are not that steep, but they do go on and on, so unless you are used to riding in the high mountains, this style of bike is way more comfortable for climbing and for descending.

And as all of our Clients are here to bag as many cols as possible, we don’t rent aero bikes. You don’t need to be too aerodynamic schlogging your way up the Tourmalet at 10 or 12km/hr and there’s not a lot of valley riding before you’ll be climbing again!

Road Bike Gearing

ALL of our 2023 rental bikes have a 50/34 compact crankset and an 11×32 rear cassette. Our 2024 12 Speed bikes have an 11×34 rear cassette. If it’s your first time in the high mountains, (or not), you’ll very much appreciate the super low gearing.
